Budgeting for Hajj
Hajj is obligatory once in a lifetime for every Muslim who is physically and financially able. Allah says: 'And pilgrimage to the House is a duty owed to Allah by all people who are able to find a way to it' (Surah Aal-Imran 3:97). Planning the cost ahead helps you fulfil it without hardship or debt.
What to budget for
Typical costs include flights, the Hajj package or accommodation in Makkah and Madinah, the visa, local transport, food, the sacrifice (hady), and gifts. Prices vary widely by country, season, and package tier - use your own quotes; this tool only adds them up.
A note on debt
Scholars differ on taking a loan for Hajj; the safer view is not to burden yourself with debt for a duty that is only obligatory when you are able. Saving steadily is better than borrowing.
